S - Learning Outcome 5

Over the weekend I signed up to go help with the garage sale at the Bissonnet campus of the Post Oak School from 6-8 in morning to help with set up before it opened. I had a lot of fun doing this and I ended up staying until 4 in the afternoon which was a bit longer than I had planned on staying. I had a great time helping people who were shopping there to carry thing to their car as a lot of people bought large toy sets and car seats for their kids. I had a lot of fun and was able to have fun conversations with some people while helping them to their cars which for were parked all over the neighborhood because of the limited parking along the street. However people eventually started bringing their cars into the driveway and putting the stuff in there so they wouldn't have to carry it all over.  I was working with Andreas as the people who helped people to their cars and helped with any other odds and ends that were happening around. I am glad I stayed as long as I did because of ...

A - Learning Outcome 1

I started playing volleyball with the Bearkats this year and it has been going well so far, but our team needs practice, so last week a couple of my friends who are also on the team and I went to a restaurant that had a lot of sand volleyball pits to go practice. It was super fun and we were also able to work on our team building and our skills at successfully returning the ball over the net. During this time I was able to identify that serving and receiving are probably my best skills but the ones I need to start improving on are my sets and my ability to block and spike the ball. Blocking and spiking might be a little harder to work on because I simply lack the height required to successfully get up over the net to block, spiking is a little easier because I can turn it into more of a hit than a spike and get it over. Setting I am okay at but I tend not to get it in the right spot for someone else tall to spike it effectively. I think that it is good that I am able to identify my str...

A - Learning Outcome 7

These past few weeks I have been carpooling to and from school with Andreas Cantu on Thursdays. We do this so that we can get to school and it is easier for his parents as well because this way I can take him to school and to volleyball practice in the afternoon and then back home. This past week I also drove him to volleyball practice on Tuesday because he didn't have a ride and I had a little bit of time after school ended to go pick him up and then get to the Bissonnet campus on time. I consider these carpools very ethical because it not only is better for Andreas to have a ride who has the same schedule as him, but also it is very effective in limiting carbon emissions since we are cutting in half the number of cars it would take to transport us both to school. It is also ethical because it saves his parents a couple of trips back and forth because they both work closer to the Bissonnet campus and I don't want them to be driving back and forth all day.
